Neighbourhood Planning can help to ensure that new development is sympathetic to the surrounding area and meets the needs of the local community. In order to do that, we need to gather a range of information to inform our approach. Last year we asked for community feedback through a housing survey. We asked questions such as:
How do you feel about housing provision in our area?
Do you think the Calne Community Neighbourhood Plan should continue to contain policies to influence how future housing is planned and delivered within Calne and Calne Without?
The Calne Community Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group also commissioned a Housing Need Assessment (HNA) which is part of a range of free technical support packages that are available to Neighbourhood Planning Groups.
A HNA helps us to understand the needs of the existing community and future residents, including, for example, affordable housing and housing for older people. As we begin 2023, we are continuing our work to look at what is needed and wanted by our community in terms of housing - and how our updated Neighbourhood Plan can shape future housing development.
